HP today announced it is expanding its strategic collaboration with VMware to introduce new integrated software offerings that help customers seamlessly automate the management of heterogeneous environments.

New integrations of HP business technology optimization (BTO) software for the VMware virtualization platform will allow customers to seamlessly manage across both physical and virtual environments. These offerings include:

HP Business Service Management – monitoring of physical and virtual environments. Products include HP Business Availability Center, HP Operations Center and HP Network Management Center.
HP Discovery and Dependency Mapping and HP Universal CMDB – discovery of virtualized environments and accurate tracking and reporting of changes.
HP Business Service Automation – automation of change processes across virtual and physical environments. Products include HP Server Automation Center, HP Client Automation and HP Operations Orchestration.
In addition, HP has worked with VMware to make software bundles available that combine the VMware Infrastructure 3 software suite and additional automation products with HP Insight Control Environment. These bundles offer customers comprehensive and seamless physical and virtual platform management.

“Virtual environments require the same process and discipline as physical infrastructures – from deployment and monitoring to securing, compliance and change management,” said Ben Horowitz, vice president and general manager, Business Technology Optimization, Software, HP. “We’re expanding our relationship with VMware to jointly develop solutions that provide customers with comprehensive management of virtualized business applications running on the VMware platform.”

HP today announced that HP MediaSmart Connect, a digital receiver that brings digital media from around the home or the Internet(1) to any HDTV, is now available for pre-order.

Whether digital videos, music and photos are stored on a notebook across the room or a desktop in a home office,(2) HP MediaSmart Connect can find and display them all in a single list on any HDTV.(3)

Additionally, the digital media receiver can connect people to a wealth of online content from wherever they watch TV. Havok Physics scales extremely well across the entire family of AMD processors, including quad-core products such as the AMD Phenom™ X4. As part of the collaboration, Havok and AMD plan to further optimize the full range of Havok technologies on AMD x86 superscalar processors. The two companies will also investigate the use of AMD’s massively parallel ATI Radeon GPUs to manage appropriate aspects of physical world simulation in the future.
