Acer, the third largest vendor in the global PC market (source: Gartner data, 1H 2008) and one of the leading brands in the Video Projector market, today announced that its Video projectors will be equipped with the innovative and proprietary ColorBoost II Technology.

Acer is the first video projector vendor to offer ColorBoost II, a technology that provides amazing color enhancement for DLP projectors.

In 2007 Acer introduced ColorBoost technology that set a new standard for image quality as it provides optimized color performance tailored for life-like pastel images, which are the most commonly used in all applications and images.

Now, Acer presents ColorBoost II. Building on the innovations introduced with ColorBoost, Acer developed ColorBoost II, an enhancement technology that offers new improvements and presents ultra-vivid images in brilliant colors.

Acer ColorBoost II combines the following technologies that take image quality a step further:

¡P Advanced Lamp Illumination technology

Optimized color-wheel design
Acer’s 6-segment color-wheel comes with primary (Red, Green and Blue) and secondary color segments (Cyan, Yellow and White).

The colour-wheel converts a monochrome picture to color. It filters light into the primary red, green and blue in addition to other colors, depending on the number of segments the wheel is equipped with. Acer’s 6-segment color wheel reproduces colors at double the frequency rate of 3- or 4- segment wheels and delivers richer color saturation and eliminates the rainbow effect for people who are extremely sensitive to color refreshing.

Powerful image processing
Acer ColorBoost II Technology includes a further enhanced image processor. The original image processor provided greater computational accuracy for more precise colors, while an advanced algorithm for 6-segment colour wheels optimised the display of pastel colors and offered more natural and realistic images.

The enhanced image processor includes Acer Best Color Tracking Technology that utilizes color temperature adjustments to achieve more lifelike images, while automatic colour tracking improves gradation and enriches darkest details, thus displaying more natural colors.

In addition, Input signal consistency corrects image consistency in every signal route to ensure optimised performance for all content, whereas HSG (Hue Saturation Gain) color tuning tweaks main colours in order to achieve more natural skin tones.

Advanced Lamp Illumination technology
A specific wave-generator that uses different techniques like low pulse, variable plateau and dynamic dimming, achieves an optimal lamp waveform to boost brightness, contrast and color depth and deliver more natural images.

Acer addressed further improvements on generic lamp waveform that include a Bright mode design to maximize brightness levels and a Video mode that enhances red color to compensate DLP engine’s weakness to compete with LCD.

Acer ColorBoost II technology provides the kind of color performance that has never been seen in conventional projectors. Brilliant colors with a high contrast ratio made for precise presentation of graphics, vivid graphics for more effective learning and enhanced details for better viewing.

Acer EcoProjection Technology
Acer EcoProjection Technology is a comprehensive environment-friendly power management solution that reduces power consumption by up to 50% in standby mode. EcoProjection is also marked by Auto EcoMode, a feature that lets the projector automatically enter ECO mode if there isn’t any input signal for 5 minutes, thus reducing power consumption up to 20%. Also featured in the Acer EcoProjection suite is Acer ePower Management for customized power-saving configurations.

Acer’s projectors are also equipped with the unique Acer Empowering Technology, an exclusive software that provides an easy management and customization of all Acer Products.
